I am saddened to report that Buzz Wilson, an outstanding supporter of the film festival and a generous benefactor of the State Theatre, passed away unexpectedly yesterday evening at his home in Leland. Buzz was one of TCFF's most passionate advocates, sponsoring films each year through his company, Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, and providing an extraordinary financial commitment to fund the State Theatre renovation project. He was a great lover of films and cinema, stopping by often to check on the progress of the State as it underwent construction and talking with Michael Moore and the volunteers about future plans for the theater.
Buzz Wilson
Perhaps most inspiringly, Buzz consistently shied away from the spotlight, never seeking credit or attention for the amazingly generous contributions he provided to this community. His support has been invaluable not only in making the film festival a success, but in bringing our beautiful, historic movie theater back to life. That the State's dazzling lights shine out on Front Street every night is a lasting testament to the generosity of Buzz and his family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Buzz's wife, Barb, and his sons Charlie, Ted and Richard during this very difficult time.
