Oh... and we found a broken window in the basement, but no sign of entry.

Another side note... my brother was inexplicably a Baltimore Orioles fan, so I should have questioned his motives about sending me between the shotgun and the phone.

Thanks for posting this, Andrew. I listened to this game (vs. the Baltimore Orioles, as I recall) as a twelve year-old in bed. I lived in Toledo, so the game wouldn't have been broadcast on television there, nor would have been this celebration. It's great to see all the players again from that team, and doubly nice to see George Kell interviewing his future partner (and my then-hero, Al Kaline).

Something that occurred to me as I watched that... I went to sleep a very, very happy kid, but was awakened from a deep sleep an hour or two later by my older brother who was calling my name from the other room. When I turned the corner from my room to the dining room, he was standing with a shotgun pointed toward our kitchen. Apparently, someone had tried to break in to our basement and he had grabbed dad's shotgun from the closet in the event the burglar came upstairs.

I'm guessing that the gun wasn't loaded (I don't think he knew a thing about guns), but he told me to call our parents who were visiting friends around the block. That meant (to my sleepy little head) having to walk into the path of the shotgun to get to the phone, which I foolishly did—there was another phone behind him that I'd forgotten about.

So, yeah... great video. Interesting memories.
