You've got to love Michigan!!
My family has been crossing the Straits annually since the 1940's traveling to Copper Country where our Finnish ancestors had settled. We had 3 generations walking together on Monday and we had a great time!!!

The 2007 Labor Day Bridge Walk was "awesome". The weather was perfect. My husband and I have walked the bridge before, and still are unable to walk it in less than an hour and a half. Mackinaw City on the otherhand was less than ideal. As we watched the people waiting in line to get on the buses, wind through town, it was then, that we decided to take quick action and grab the next Shepler ferry to the island and then on to St Ignace. It worked out perfectly. We had a leisure boat ride, a relaxing meal at the Pink Pony and met some new friends. When we returned to St Ignace, Shepler's had a shuttle bus take us back to our jeep, back by the bridge. Unlike most, we didn't wait in line at all. Great time. We love da UP eh...and the Mighty Mac!!!

I would really enjoy doing the walk. But am curious if a registration is needed. I am also curious if it is possible to be sponsored by a group/organization. I am a slightly disabled person wanting to bring awareness to the people who've helped me regain the ability to walk. If you have any comments or info. that would help us, please e-mail me at jtriebsch@yahoo.com. Thanks!!!
