The trend toward “back yard” cruises doesn’t have to mean a floatie in the blow-up swimming pool, at least not for Michiganders. The Great Canadian Travel Company’s offering an alternative to the traditional Lake Michigan circle tour–by water. The seven-day “Lake Michigan Getaway 2009″ is billed as a relatively affordable way to cruise since it saves on airfare to the embarkation point, as well as an unfamiliar way to see perhaps familiar travel destinations.
