This article also says that wind shifts could produce a flareup and that even after it’s “out” the boggy nature of the land mean worries for weeks or months to com.

Here’s some aerial photos of the fire from a photographer in the Absolute Michigan pool. The DNR has a pdf of photos from the ground too.

1. SENEY WILDLIFE REFUGE FIRE IN SENEY OF THE UPPER PENINSULA (UP) — THAT FIRE BURNED 75,000 ACRES IN 1976.

2- MAC LAKE FIRE IN LOWER MICHIGAN (THE MIT) — THAT FIRE BURNED 20,000 ACRES IN 1980.

On a personal note, we were smelling the smoke from the fire down here in Leelanau (over 75 miles south).
