Detroit’s Object Orange goes national

Thanks to PSFK and their article on Detroit’s Object Orange for the above video.

We initially went with this feature because of a nice NPR feature from WDET, Detroit Artists Paint Town Orange to Force Change. The interview (which was kind of choppy on my system) explored the motivation behind the group and also the legality of it. According to Andy, one of the members of Object Orange, “We didn’t do this to make a statement about grafitti so much to make a statement about apathy. We think that the real crime is that so many of these houses have been left to rot for so many years.”

Last year The Detroiter put together an awesome article on Object Orange. More photos at object orange: detroit. demolition. disneyland. from Paul Kotula Projects and Object Orange’s Flickr site.
