Jen Cass of Bay City has been awarded the Grand Prize for ‚ÄúSmall Town Boy,‚Äù a song that tells the story of Jen’s grandparents, Clyde & Helen Cass, starting with their marriage in Missouri in 1933 and ending with the birth of Jen and her sister Shannon in the suburbs of Detroit in the 1970′s. Ann Arborite Whit Hill won first place for ‚ÄúFarsighted‚Äù and second place for ‚ÄúSandusky.‚Äù Lansing singer-songwriter Rachanee also won second place for ‚ÄúFrom Here.‚Äù Three Michigan songwriters shared third place: Roger MacNaughton of Ada for ‚ÄúCherry Creek,‚Äù Patrick Power of East Lansing for ‚ÄúThe Heart of Mary Lou,‚Äù and Rachele Eve of Plymouth for her song, ‚ÄúLady in Black.‚Äù
