Since 1927 when boat builder Martin Telgard and his wife Leone opened the Bluebird as a small sandwich and soda shop, the Bluebird in Leland has been the gathering place for locals and tourists alike. From the casual bar & tavern to the more elegant, scenic dining room on the banks of the Leland River, the Bluebird tradition of excellence is always apparent.
They have long been known for the finest whitefish and perch in Northern Michigan and also seek the finest steaks and the freshest, flown-in seafood along with their own fresh pasta and baked goods – including their famous cinnamon rolls still made with Leone’s recipe – and a very extensive wine list. In the off-season, they also feature ethnic nights every Wednesday and Thursday night with special menus and wine lists.
